About YCMOU

Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, also known as YCMOU, was established in the year 1989. It is a state-level open university situated in Nashik, Maharashtra. The university is honored with an Award of Institutional Excellence. All distance learning programs offered at YCMOU are regulated under the UGC (University Grants Commission). All architecture graduate and post-graduate programs are duly recognized and approved by the “Council of Architecture (CoA)”. Additionally, all courses offered are also approved by the Board of Technical Education, or the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body. More than 100 courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels are offered at the university. 

About University: The full name of YCMOU is Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was established on 1 July 1989 and is the fifth open university in India. There are several entrance exams conducted for admission into this distance education. Common entrance exams are- MAH B.Ed. CET, MAH March CAT, and APICET.

YCMOU Distance Education UG Admission 2026

Degree level programs offered at YCMOU are BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, BCA, and BEd, covering multiple specializations. A range of disciplines covered through this program are Aviation, Hospitality and Travel & Tourism Management, Computer System Administration, Biology, Chemistry, Zoology, Urdu, Hospitality Studies, Media Graphics and Animation, and many more. The admission requirement at YCMOU is that students must pass a higher secondary exam with a minimum of 45% marks. 

Undergraduate programs at YCMOU can be completed in 3 years and maximum duration taken by students is 6 years. All programs are offered through a semester-wise pattern. UG academic fee at the university ranges between INR 6800 to 16000. Students who want to get enrolled to any UG programs have to fill out an online application form for the session 2026-27. YCMOU Distance Education PG Admission

A range of disciplines offered through postgraduate programs at YCMOU includes Mathematics, Environmental Science, Physics, Zoology, Economics, Hindi, and Marathi. These specializations are offered under academic courses like MCom, MCA, MA, MLib, MBA, and MSc. PG programs generally last for 2 years, and the maximum duration one can take to complete the program is 4 years. Enrollment is granted to candidates who have a degree in bachelor’s in a specific discipline. A qualifying grade of 50% is needed to be achieved by a candidate. 

PG programs usually range between INR 12000 to 38000 for all specializations. While taking registration applicants have to pay INR 200 to 600. Those who want to take admission for the session 2026-27 to any postgraduate program applicants have to take admission until the last date of 30 January 2026*.  Students can enroll from the Univeristy official website.

Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University provides admission to the applicants through the online mode. Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria need to fill out the online application form by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Students shall go to the online portal of the YCMOU on any search engine. 

Step 2: Visit the home page of the university and download the prospectus of the desired course.

Step 4: Now, go to the “Register Now” tab.

Step 11: Move forward and make a payment of the registration fees using any payment mode. 

Step 12: For the final submission click on the “Submit Now” button.
