The School of Distance Learning & Continuing Education (SDLCE) comes under Kakatiya University and was established in 1988 to offer several distance learning programs. Being a public university, it is located in the state of Telangana. The university is approved by UGC-DEB (University Grants Commission’s Distance Education Bureau) to offer UG, PG, certificate, and diploma courses.

Currently, the university has been awarded an “A+ grade” under the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India) regulatory body. Kakatiya University SDLCE offers multiple streams under the diploma program for the current cycle 2026-27. A variety of specialisations offered includes Business Management, Tally, Retail Management, Guidance & Counselling, Yoga, Computer Applications, Disaster Management, etc. Diploma courses at KU SDLCE generally last for 1 year. The mode of learning at the university is English. 

Any candidate who graduated in any discipline can take admission to Kakatiya University’s distance education. A candidate shall score a minimum of 40% to get enrolled. Kakatiya University distance education has set a certificate course fee of INR 1900 to 4200. Several specializations are offered at the KU SDLCE through certificate programs such as Library & Information Science, Bioinformatics, Food & Nutrition, Horticulture, Non-Renewable Energy, Web Designing, IoT, Cyber Security, Research Methodology, Mimicry, Dance, and Vocal Music. The university offers both yearly and semester-based examinations. 

Students can complete the certificate program in 3 to 6 months. Applicants must have passed an intermediate exam in any stream from a recognised board. Students can choose to study either in English or the Telugu language.
